Descriptive Essay

Bringing a handful of new innovations to this years line up, Volkl continues to create an optimum ski for the more than average skier. With the addition of all new designs brought to the drawing board and confirmed, Volkl has no doubt upped their performance level to an extreme that blows all other brands away. Including the Gotama, the Mantra, and the Step, Volkl has created such a variety of skis that a person searching the market will get exactly what they want. To top all this off, the skis are not only quality but super sexy! The graphics on Volkl's 2013 lineup are outstanding giving the ability to catch any eyes from miles away. Being a quality brand since 1923, it is a fact that these skis are some of the top engineered and most widely skied today.
Starting with Volkl’s most versatile big mountain ski on the market, the Gotama maxes out both powder and groomed skiing performance. With a new style of rocker for big powder skiing presented and tested by Volkl's team of engineers, the Gotama changed its rocker source to the new and improved ELP full rocker system. Extended Low Profile rocker gives the skier the softness and grace in deep fluffy snow but also the capability to arc long sharp turns on steep groomers. At this moment, you may be wondering how a person skiing on rockered boards is able to float in powder yet also have the ability to carve on hard snow. After years and years of Volkl teams all over the world meeting and coming up with new and improved forms of ski technology, they were able to come up with a way to solve the problem. By matching the flex with the full rocker profile (long, gradual bend from tip to tail), the skier is able to gain full, uninterrupted edge contact with the snow. Essentially, the more you put the ski on edge, the more effective the edge becomes. The resulting smoothness and predictability is truly uncanny. Besides the ELP full rocker design, an all new dual-wood core was added to the ski's improvement list. This improved dual-core design offers two different densities of wood within the ski giving it security yet allowance. In the binding attachment area underneath the foot, a very dense, ash core is used while in the rest of the ski a poplar core is used. The denser wood underfoot gives stability while the poplar core allows for resilience. While one takes a ride on these skis, the feel is purely one of softness yet control. These highly awarded Gotama's also offer some of the coolest graphics in town. Being black and dark brown with the white Volkl logo, they also give rise to a Buddha king sitting on the bottom of the ski; and don't worry about scratching, the tops are made of a super strong synthetic that only a grizzly bear could scratch. If one is looking for the absolute ride of a lifetime in deep snow but still wants control on hard surfaces, the Gotama is no doubt the choice.
Next is Volkl's number one all mountain free skier, the Mantra. Offering a camber underfoot with rocker in the tip, this ski is one that will take an individual anywhere on the mountain at ease and without slip. With Volkl's team creating the new innovation of combining rocker with camber, the ski is able to achieve so much more. When one is skiing on hard, icy, or groomed surfaces, they are able to achieve full contact with the snow at all times based on the ski being cambered. But, when one enters deep, luscious powder, the tip rocker is able to stay above the surface giving that skier the optimum amount of float. To break all this down, the Mantra is a ski that gives a rider the capability to fly down solid runs yet float at ease throughout deep pow. The ski is perfect for those who want to only buy and have one pair of quality skis. For the design, they offer the ability to ski anything at anytime for the above average skier.  If this creation wasn't enough for you, it is also beneficial to know that the ski is being powered by titanium. Above and below its sensor wood core are thin layers of  titanium reinforcing the ski while adding power and stability. By also displaying a powerful dragon on top of a red and white background, these skis have the strength to draw in almost every eye on the whole ski hill! This legendary designed Mantra creates the absolute finest combination of soft snow float and groomed snow performance even when conditions become icy.
For those that aren't interested in riding the mountain and would rather launch back flips and 360's, Volkl also offers an all new design for park and pipe skiers called the  Step. This ski offers a completely symmetrical shape with rocker in the tip and tail. What this does is gives the rider the ability to ride switch (backwards) at ease yet still maintain the ability to have complete control. In park and pipe skiing, having complete control can mean the difference between landing clean or wrecking huge. Compared to previous park and pipe skis, the 2013 Step gives rise to a P-Tex 2000 base, a full Multi-Layer wood core, and Tough Box construction. With the addition of the 2000 P-Tex base, this ski is merely indestructible. Now tell me what's more important than looking fly in the park? If one wants to be looking flashy and catchy, the Step's turquoise to yellow to orange fade with creative black and gray designs in between is by far the correct way to go. For the skier that wants to hit the features, the Step is premium park and pipe material.
With these three all new designs, it is not even a question that Volkl designers have put their ideas to a higher level than any other company. They have explored new ideas and come up with all new technologies that have resulted in putting Volkl ahead of any other brand. From the ideas to the designs and from the designs to the graphics, it is sure that Volkl skis will benefit the population of skiers today.
